Location of Foy Sagar Lake:
This artificial Lake is located at a distance of 5 Km from Ajmer City in District Ajmer, Rajasthan.
History of the Lake:
It was got constructed in 1892 A.D. as part of the famine relief project by the Municipality of Ajmer at a cost of Rs. One Lakh under the supervision of Mr. Foy, a British Engineer and is named after him. When it was constructed the Ajmer City was known as ‘Ajmere’.
Architecture of the Lake:
The original storage capacity of the Lake was 150 million cubic feet and was spread over 14 million square feet. The maximum depth of the Lake was 74 feet and the height of the dam was 59 feet at the time of its construction. It is a pleasant picnic spot and lures every visitor with its astounding beauty. It is the main source of drinking water to the residents of Ajmer City. It also offers the eye-catching view of the neighboring Aravalli mountains.
