Type of Institution & Facilities
The Manipur Institute of Technology was set up by the State Government of Manipur as ‘Government College of Technology’ in the year 1998. With Effect from 13th October, 2005, it became a Constituent College of ‘Manipur University’ by an Act of Parliament, called ‘Manipur University Act 2005’. It is being maintained by Manipur University, Canchipur out of funds made available to it by the UGC.
The Institute has Wi-Fi Campus with high speed Internet facility, Three Computer Labs, Language Lab, Library, Two Hostels for boys (capacity 60 & 30) & one girls Hostel at M.U. Campus, Canchipur having capacity of 100 students.

Eligibility in Manipur Institute of Technology
First Year of Engineering & Technology:
Pass in HSSLC (10+2) exam of the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur or an exam recognized by Manipur University or its equivalent with 45% aggregate marks (40% marks for SC/ST applicants) in the following subjects taken together – (i) language (ii) Physics (iii) Mathematics (iv) any one of (Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Technical Vocational subject) and (v) any other subject.
Note: A candidate for admission to the B.E. course should have completed the age of 17 years and should not be beyond the age of 22 years on the 1st July of the year of admission. For SC/ST applicants, the upper age limit is relaxed upto 3 years.
Direct Second Year (Lateral Entry):
Diploma in Engineering/ Technology of three years duration with 50% marks from Manipur University or a Board of Technical Education recognized by Manipur University.

Admission Procedure in Manipur Institute of Technology
The Manipur Institute of Technology invites On-line Applications in the month of April/May every year. All the candidates are required to register & fill the Application form On-line only. The admission is based on the score in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (
GATE) conducted jointly by the IISc and all the IITs. The Centralized Counselling is conducted by MIT (For details visit https://mitimphal.in).

Fee Structure of Manipur Institute of Technology
- The fee for B.E. course (as fixed for the year 2018-2019) is Rs. 32,100/- per student for 1st semester, Rs. 28,030/- for odd semester and Rs. 25,400/- for even semester.
- The fee to be paid by the students admitted through Lateral Entry is the same as applicable to their counterpart students admitted in the four year B.E. Program.
