Location of Lake Palace:

This palace was earlier known as Jag Niwas Palace and is located on the Jag Niwas island in the middle of Lake Pichhola in Udaipur City, District Udaipur, Rajasthan. It is approachable via a boat which transports the guests from the City Palace

History of Lake Palace:

It was built in 1743 A.D. by Maharana Jagat Singh II (ruler of Udaipur from 1734 to 1751 A.D.) as a royal Summer Palace.

Architecture of Lake Palace:

The Palace covers an area of 4 acres. It has a number of courtyards lined with columns, pillared terraces, beautiful fountains, lush green gardens, a Lily pond and a number of splendidly built pavilions like Ajjan Niwas, Bada Mahal, Chandra Prakash, Dhola Mahal, Kush Mahal and Phool Mahal. The rooms are ornamented with cusped arches, inland stones of pink, green lotus leaves and painted mirrors.

Now, it has been converted into a five star luxury hotel and is managed by the Taj Group of Hotels.
