This Museum is located inside the City Palace in Kota City, District Kota, Rajasthan.

History of Rao Madho Singh Museum:

In the early 17th Century A.D., the ruler of Bundi Rao Ratan Singh gave the smaller principality of Kota to his son Rao Madho Singh during the rule of the Mughal Emperor Jahangir. Since then Kota became a hallmark of the Rajput gallantry and culture. So this Museum has been named after Rao Madho Singh.

Attractions of Rao Madho Singh Museum:

It is entered through Hathian Pol, an ornate gateway with a brass cannon and painted elephants on either side. It houses a rich collection of fine wall paintings, exquisite sculptures, frescoes, weapons, silver waterpipes, instruments, clocks, vases, chess sets and some of the best preserved murals in Rajasthan. The miniature paintings gallery displays Kota Kamba, the painted miniature figures that are a local specialty belonging to the Kota School. It also has a fine collection of costumes and apparels, artifacts and handicrafts belonging to the erstwhile rulers of Kota.

Visiting Hours in Rao Madho Singh Museum:

It remains open on all days except Fridays and State holidays from 11.00 A.M. to 5.00 P.M. A fee of Rs. 50 is charged from foreign tourists, while the Indian nationals have to pay Rs. 10 for entry. The fee for taking camera inside is Rs. 50, while it is Rs. 75 for video making.
