It is like an oasis in the desert land and offers a breathtaking view of the surroundings. It is habitat to 34 species of macrobenthic invertebrates with most dominant species being Bellamya bengalensis, Chironomus larvae, Melanoides tuberculata, Lymnaea acuminata and Indoplonorbis exustus.

The main attraction here is the Jagmandir Palace which is built of red sandstone in the middle of the lake on a small island. The design of Jagmandir is a fine blend of the Mughal and Hindu styles of architecture. It was originally a Temple which was built in 1740 A.D. for the queen of Kota. The interiors of the palace are adorned with different wall paintings which depict the Hindu Gods and Goddesses. However, it is not open to public and one has to take special permission from the Superintendent Engineer at the Public Works Department behind Collectorate Circle.

The lake provides the breathtaking reflections of the Jagmandir Palace walls and its domes. The boat riding facilities are also available here and one can take a R.T.D.C. paddle boat for Rs. 30 and take a ride around the lake.
