The College of Engineering Pune is a Co-Educational, Non-Minority, Autonomous College of the Govt. of Maharashtra. This is the 3rd oldest Engineering College in Asia, established in the year 1854 as “The Poona Engineering Class and Mechanical School” at Bhawani Peth, Poona. In the year 1864, the School was renamed as “Poona Civil Engineering College”. It was affiliated to the University of Bombay in 1866 and later on, it got affiliated to the University of Pune. In 1879, the name of the College was changed to “The College of Science” and subsequently in the year 1911, its name was changed to the “College of Engineering, Poona”. The College got an Autonomous status in the year 2003.

For Maharashtra State Candidates: The candidate should be an Indian National and Passed the HSC or its equivalent exam with Physics & Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry or Biotechnology or Biology or Technical or Vocational subjects with 50% marks in the above subjects taken together. OR Passed Diploma in Engineering & Technology with 50% marks. OR Passed B.Sc. Degree from a recognized University as defined by the UGC with 50% marks. These candidates should have qualified MHT-CET.
For J&K Migrant Candidates: Same as for M.S. Candidates. These candidates should have qualified MHT-CET/ JEE (Main) Paper-1.
Direct Second Year (Lateral Entry):
For M.S. Candidates: The candidate should be an Indian National and should have Passed Diploma in Engineering & Technology with 45% marks in appropriate Branch of Engineering & Technology from an AICTE or Central or State Govt. approved Institution. OR Passed B.Sc. Degree from a UGC or AIU recognized University with 45% marks and passed HSC with Mathematics as a subject, provided that students belonging to this category shall clear the subjects of Engg. Graphics/ Engg. Drawing & Engg. Mechanics of the first year Engineering Program along with second year subjects.
