The Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women (IGDTUW) was formerly known as Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology (IGIT) which was established by the Directorate of Training & Technical Education, Govt of NCT of Delhi as the first Engineering College for women in the year 1998. The IGIT was granted an Autonomous status as Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women (IGDTUW) in May 2013 vide Delhi State Legislature Act 9, 2012 by the Government of NCT of Delhi. It is a non-affiliating teaching and research University.

Passed I.S.C. Examination (12-year course) of the CISCE or S.S.C. Examination (12-year course) of CBSE or Any other examination recognized as equivalent to S.S.C. Examination from a recognized School/College/Institute and securing 60% marks (54% marks for SC/ ST/ PD/ Kashmiri Migrant category candidates, 57% marks for OBC-NCL/ Defence category candidates) in the aggregate of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The candidates must have passed English as a subject of study of the S.S.C. Examination Level (Core or Elective) and she must have passed in each subject separately.
Note: The applicant must be 17 years of age and maximum 25 years of age on or before 1st October of the year of admission. The relaxation in minimum age up to one year only with the approval of Competent Authority is permissible (Such candidate should apply for relaxation only at the time of admission). The candidates who are short in age by more than one year are not eligible for admission.

The admission is based on the merit/ rank in the JEE (Main) Paper 1 conducted by National Testing Agency (For details visit www.nta.ac.in or https://jeemain.nta.nic.in). The On-line Counselling for admission is conducted by Joint Admission Counselling Committee. The candidates are required to fill On-line Application form for admission in the month of April/May every year (For details visit https://jacdelhi.nic.in/publicinfo/public/home.aspx).
Note: 85% of the total seats are reserved for candidates belonging to Delhi Region (Students passing the qualifying examination from recognized Board/ College/ Institution located within the NCT of Delhi only) and 15% of the total seats for candidates belonging to outside Delhi Region (Students passing the qualifying examination from recognized Board/ College/ Institution located outside the NCT of Delhi). Note: The SC/ ST/ OBC-NCL/ PD category candidates are allowed 5% relaxation of marks in the minimum eligibility requirement. The applicants appearing in Final year/semester of their qualifying degree may also apply. There is no minimum & maximum age criteria.
For Full-Time Ph.D. (Sponsored) & Part-Time Ph.D. (Sponsored) Programs: In addition to fulfilling the above stated eligibility conditions, the applicant should be presently employed under any of the following categories : (i) working in Organizations which have MOU with IGDTUW. (ii) working on Full-Time basis (regular/adhoc/contract) in a National Level R&D Lab/ a reputed Organization/ recognized Educational Institution/ University/ PSU/ Corporate/ Industry registered under Companies Act & she gets a NOC from her employer, at the time of provisional registration. The applicant must possess at least two years of relevant work experience.
For IGDTUW-Junior Research Fellow: In addition to fulfilling the above stated eligibility conditions, the candidate has qualified UGC-CSIR-JRF/ NET examination or has qualified GATE with a score above the minimum cut off or has qualified Research Aptitude Test (RAT) examination. A candidate who has appeared in the above examinations but is awaiting results may also apply. However, she shall be required to produce a valid documentary evidence of having qualified the examination at the time of Interview. The candidate should not be receiving any financial assistance from any other sources.
Admission Procedure in Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women (IGDTUW)
The Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women invites On-line Applications in the month of April/May every year. All the candidates are required to register & fill the Application form On-line only. The admission is based on the score in a Written Test (Research Aptitude Test, RAT) conducted by IGDTUW at the University Campus. The candidate has to score 50% marks to qualify RAT exam. A relaxation of 5% marks is allowed for SC/ ST/ OBC-NCL/ PD category candidates to qualify the RAT exam. The syllabus of the RAT exam consists of 50% of Research Methodology & 50% subject specific and is made available on the University Website. These category of candidates are exempted from RAT examination and are allowed to appear in the Interview directly: (i) Full-Time female teaching staff (Faculty) of IGDTUW, (ii) Sponsored applicants from organizations having MOU with the University, (iii) Applicants who have qualified UGC-CSIR-JRF/NET OR have qualified GATE with a score above the minimum cut-off and successfully completed requisite Master’s degree, (iv) Foreign students who apply through Ministry of HRD or foreign students under a Cultural Exchange Scholarship Course of Govt. of India.
