The Department of Electronic Science University of Delhi was established by University of Delhi in the year 1985.
The University of Delhi (South Campus) is spread across 69 acres of green, hilly terrain having Library, Well-equipped Labs & Workshops, Computer Centre, Distributed Information Sub-Centre, Guest House, UIMS Portal, Central Instrumentation Facility, W.U.S. Health Centre, Bank, Post Office, DTC Pass Section, Administrative and Examination blocks, Residential Quarters for Faculty members and the Non-teaching staff, Three Hostels (the Geetanjali Hostel for Women, the Saramati Hostel for Men and the Aravalli P.G. Note 1: Those who have appeared in the Qualifying Examination may also apply provided their result is declared before 31st August of the academic year of admission.
Note 2: No student is qualified for admission to the M.Tech course unless he/she is 21 years of age on or before 1st October of the year of admission. Relaxation of age limit up to a maximum period of six months on the basis of individual merit may be granted by the Vice-Chancellor.
The admission is based on the applicants’ rank in an Entrance Test conducted at 30 centres located across India by National Testing Agency. The question paper is of MCQ type based on these topics : Engg. Mathematics, Networks Analysis, Basics of Computer Programming and Numerical Techniques, Semiconductor Devices, Analog and Digital Communication, Electromagnetics, Transmission Lines and Basics of Microwaves (For details visit www.nta.ac.in).
The sponsored candidates are considered directly for admission. These candidates need not register on the Admission portal.
Eligibility & Admission Procedure of Foreign Nationals: These candidates have to get themselves registered with the Foreign Students Registry & apply On-line in the month of April/May every year. These candidates are exempted from Entrance Test (For details visit http://fsr.du.ac.in).
- Ph.D. Electronic Science
Note: The candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (N-CL)/ PwD categories are given 5% relaxation in the Qualifying marks. The allied subject for admission to Ph.D. is decided by the DRC of the Department. The requirement of Research Proposal for admission to Ph.D. in Electronic Science is not mandatory.
The candidates are required to appear in an Entrance Test conducted at 30 centres located across India by National Testing Agency. The syllabus for the entrance test consists of 50% questions on research aptitude/methodology and 50% subject-specific questions based on M.Sc. (or equivalent) syllabus of the University of Delhi (For details visit www.nta.ac.in). Based on the performance in the Written Test, the candidates are short-listed and are invited for Interview. The eligibility (for Interview) of shortlisted candidates remains valid till the conduct of the next Entrance Test.
Note 1: The candidates who have qualified UGC-NET (including JRF)/ UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF)/ DBT-JRF, ICMR-JRF, DST-INSPIRE or equivalent national level examination/fellowship (as identified by DRC)/ GATE/ Teacher Fellowship holder may directly appear for Interview.
Note 2: Teachers, who are in service in the University of Delhi, may directly appear for Interview.
Note 3: The candidates holding JRFs or equivalent research positions in projects (subject to selection by duly constituted committee as per the University norms for research projects) may appear directly for Interview.
Note 4: The Scientists/ professionals working at R&D Institutes of the Govt. of India/ State Govt. and with whom the University has signed a MOU may directly appear for Interview.
Note 5: The candidates having M.Phil. degree with 55% marks in aggregate (50% marks for SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/ PwD candidates) may appear directly for Interview OR the candidates who have cleared coursework of M.Phil. from University of Delhi with 55% marks in aggregate may directly appear for Interview without completing the M.Phil. Dissertation OR A candidate who‘s M.Phil. dissertation has been evaluated and the viva voce is pending may appear directly for Interview OR the candidates having any other degree considered equivalent to M.Phil Degree of an Indian Institution or from a Foreign Educational Institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency with 55% marks in aggregate may directly appear for Interview.
Eligibility & Admission Procedure of Foreign Nationals: These candidates have to get themselves registered with the Foreign Students Registry & apply On-line in the month of May/June every year. These candidates are exempted from Entrance Test and Interview. They may be admitted based on their research proposal (For details visit http://fsr.du.ac.in).

50% of the total seats are filled on the basis of the applicants‘ merit in the Qualifying Examination. This Merit based option is open only for the applicants who hold B.Sc. (Hons.) Electonics degree from University of Delhi with 60% marks.
The Remaining 50% of the total seats are filled on the basis of applicants’ rank in an Entrance Test conducted at 30 centres located across India by National Testing Agency. The question paper is of MCQ type based on B.Sc. (or equivalent) syllabus of the University of Delhi (For details visit www.nta.ac.in).
Eligibility & Admission Procedure of Foreign Nationals: These candidates have to get themselves registered with the Foreign Students Registry & apply On-line in the month of April/May every year. These candidates are exempted from Entrance Test (For details visit http://fsr.du.ac.in).
