History of Cenotaph of Amar Singh Rathore:
Amar Singh Rathore was the eldest son of the Maharaja of Marwar, but was disinherited and exiled by his family. He entered into the services of the Mughal Emperor Shahjahan and due to his extraordinary bravery and battle prowess he achieved the rank of a Mansabdar. He fought many significant battles and was made Subedar of Nagaur by the Emperor.
When the Emperor levied fine on him for his absence in the Mughal court, he killed Salabat Khan in the Agra Fort in the presence of entire Mughal court. This was considered an open challenge to the Mughals and the entire Mughal force tried to capture him, but he jumped from the ramparts of Agra Fort with his horse and reached Nagaur. Finally he was betrayed by his own brother-in-law and was killed by him. Even today he is remembered for his legendary valour and courage and songs of his courage are sung in the Rajasthan State.
