Location of Kapren Fort:

This Fort is located at a distance of 65 Km from Bundi City at Kapren, District Bundi, Rajasthan.

History of Kapren Fort:

The foundation of this Fort was laid in the 16th century A.D. by Maharao Anirudh Singh ji of Bundi to protect the State from the Ranthambhore front. The river Chambal which flows at a distance of 10 Km from the Fort was a major source of transportation in those days for the traders and this Fort served as a major point for the collection of revenue from the traders of Central India.

When Maharao Raja Umaid Singh ji became the ruler of Bundi, he gave Kapren with 27 other villages with the revenue of Rs. One Lakh to his younger brother Dip Singh ji in the year 1760 A.D. Dip Singh ji was granted the title of Maharajadhiraj by the Maharana of Mewar (Udaipur).

Architecture of the Fort:

The Fort is built in 5 acres of land in Rajput style of architecture which is visible in every complex in the building. Kapren is well connected on the main high way of Ranthambore Tiger Reserve (Sawai Madhopur) and Kota. In and around Kapren, the visitors can see the village life, cottage industry of the famous Kota Doria yarn, the agricultural systems and can take a village safari. The river Chambal has very shallow water flow which allows the people to get a feeling of the sea shore.

This Fort has now been converted into a Hotel.
