The Institute of Chemical Technology Mumbai is a Co-Educational, Non-Minority, Autonomous, Govt-aided, Deemed University. It was established as the ‘University Department of Chemical Technology, (UDCT)’ on 1st October, 1933 by the University of Mumbai. In the year 2002, it was granted autonomy & converted into ‘Mumbai University Institute of Chemical Technology Mumbai, (MUICT)’ by the University of Mumbai. It was granted full autonomy in June 2004 under the World Bank TEQIP programme by the Maharashtra Government & named ‘Institute of Chemical Technology Mumbai’.
On 12th September, 2008 the ICT was granted Deemed University Status by the MHRD. This is the “Only State Funded Deemed University in India”, World Renowned for Quality of Education, Research & Connectivity with Industry. It has been accorded ‘Elite Status & Center of Excellence’ by the State Government of Maharashtra. The MHRD, Govt. of India has given Grade ‘A’ & University Par Excellence Status to it.

Eligibility in Institute of Chemical Technology Mumbai
For Maharashtra State Candidates: The candidate should be an Indian National and Passed the HSC or its equivalent exam with Physics & Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry or Biotechnology or Biology or Technical or Vocational subjects with 50% marks in the above subjects taken together. OR Passed Diploma in Engineering & Technology with 50% marks. OR Passed B.Sc. Degree from a recognized University as defined by the UGC with 50% marks. These candidates should have qualified MHT-CET.
For All India Candidates/ J&K Migrant Candidates: Same as for M.S. Candidates. These candidates should have qualified JEE (Main) Paper-1.
For B.Tech. Food Engineering & Technology: XII Std. (Science) passed in 10+2 pattern from Maharashtra State Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education or an equivalent Exam with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics OR Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology. The candidates who have passed qualifying exam without Biology have to complete deficiency courses as prescribed by respective university.
Note: The BC/ PwD applicants, belonging to Maharashtra State only, are given a relaxation of 5% of marks in the minimum eligibility requirement.

Ranking of Institute of Chemical Technology Mumbai

The Institute of Chemical Technology Mumbai has been awarded the “2nd Rank in the ranking of 3600 Institutions in India” and “2nd among All Universities in India behind IISc Bangalore” by the ‘National Institutional Ranking Framework’ of the MHRD, Govt. of India on 4th April 2016. The Institute stands at “No. 4 in the World” in an annual ranking of Chemical Engineering Programs conducted by the ‘Georgia Institute of Technology, USA’ in January, 2012.

The P. Rama Rao Committee appointed by the AICTE as well as the P. Rama Rao IIT Review Committee has recognized the Institute of Chemical Technology Mumbai as the “Best Post Graduate Technical Educational Centre in India”. The Fee to be paid for different courses for the year 2018-2019 in Institute of Chemical Technology Mumbai is as follows:
  • The fee for B.Tech. Course (1st year) is Rs. 66,845/- for Open applicants which includes Rs. 15,000/- as Tuition fee, Rs. 29,614/- as Development fee & Rs. 22,231/- as Other fee. No Tuition fee is charged from candidates of these categories – SC/ST/VJ/SBC/OBC/TFWS/ DT NT(A)/NT(B)/NT(C)/NT(D).
  • The Hostel fee is : Double Seated Boys Hostel – Rs. 17,105/ to Rs. 22,605/-; Triple Seated Boys Hostel – Rs. 16,555/- to Rs. 22,055/-. Double Seated Girls Hostel – Rs. 17,105/- to Rs. 20,405/-; Triple Seated Girls Hostel – Rs. 16,555/- to 19,855/-. The Common Charges to all Hostels – Rs. 5,000/- per annum has to be paid in the beginning of every year by all students. The Students Sports & Cultural Activity Fees is Rs. 3,000/- per year. Other Fees/ Charges (Mess Depreciation, Insurance etc.) is Rs. 2,000/- per year. In addition, the students have to pay Rs. 20,000/- as Advance Mess Charges (per annum) & Rs. 5,000/- as Refundable Mess Deposit.
