Eligibility in Indian Institute of Technology Bombay
Passed 10+2 exam with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Technical Vocational subject. Obtained at least 75% marks in the 12th class exam, or be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th class/ qualifying exam conducted by the respective Boards, category-wise. The SC/ ST applicants are given a relaxation of 5% of marks in the minimum eligibility requirement.
Admission Procedure in Indian Institute of Technology Bombay
The admission is based on the score in the JEE (Advanced) Exam conducted by one of the IITs’. The candidate must have appeared in the JEE (Main) Paper 1 conducted by National Testing Agency (For details visit www.nta.ac.in or https://jeemain.nta.nic.in) and he/she must be among top 2,50,000 candidates (including all categories) who qualify in JEE (Main) Paper 1 to be eligible to appear for JEE (Advanced) (For details visit www.jeeadv.ac.in).
The qualified candidates are required to register & fill the Application form On-line only. The Counselling for admission is conducted by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) (For details visit https://josaa.nic.in).
Duration
Four Academic years comprising of 8 Semesters for B.Tech. Course, Five Academic years comprising of 10 Semesters for B.Tech. + M.Tech. Dual Degree Program.

Eligibility in Indian Institute of Technology Bombay
The General category applicants should have First Class or 60% marks or a CGPA/CPI of 6.0/10 and the SC/ ST applicants should have First Class or 55% marks or a CGPA/CPI of 5.5/10 in the qualifying exam. The candidates having degree from Foreign Universities should submit equivalence certificate from AIU, New Delhi for qualifying exam & proof of having First class or 60% marks (55% marks for SC/ST applicants) or equivalent in the qualifying exam.

Admission Procedure in Indian Institute of Technology Bombay
The On-line Application Form & Information Brochure are made available on the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay Website (www.iitb.ac.in/acad/) in the month of February/March. The candidates can apply for more than One Program and can select up to 10 Preferences. If a Discipline has Multiple Specializations, each Specialization is counted as One Option. However, a candidate can submit only ONE application.
The Institute shortlists and invites a limited number of candidates for a Written Test and/or Interview based on the academic records & GATE score. The final selection is based on all of above, viz., Academic records, GATE score, Written Test & Interview. The SC/ST category candidates are offered direct admission solely based on their GATE Score & their preferences.
Duration
Two Academic years comprising of 4 Semesters for Full Time Course, Three Academic years comprising of 6 Semesters for Part Time Course.
M.Tech. + Ph.D. Dual Degree Programs:

The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay offers M.Tech. + Ph.D. Dual Degree Programs in some of the disciplines. The interested candidates can apply by filling up the M.Tech. admission form and indicating their interest to be considered for this program at the appropriate location in the form.

The Students who are admitted to M.Tech. Program at IIT Bombay can convert themselves to the Dual Degree (M. Tech. + Ph.D.) Program after the first stage of evaluation of the Masters’ dissertation – with the concurrence of the proposed Doctoral Supervisor and Postgraduate Committee (PGC) of the concerned academic unit. However, he/she has to clear the Qualifying Examination of the concerned Academic unit, if it is mandatory and complete the procedures pertaining to confirmation of Ph.D. Registration. On successful completion and examination of the Doctoral Thesis, both the degrees M.Tech. and Ph.D. are awarded to the candidate. If a student is not able to complete the requirements of the Ph.D, he/she can exit at any time at or after the end of the final semester of the normal M.Tech. Program.

Eligibility in Indian Institute of Technology Bombay
For Indian candidates:
The candidate should have One of the following in appropriate Subject areas with First class or 60% marks (55% marks for SC/ST applicants) : (i) Master’s Degree in Engineering/ Technology or equivalent degree. (ii) Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/ Technology. (iii) Master’s degree in Science or equivalent degree. (iv) For Ph.D. in IDC and Department of Humanities & Social Sciences only – Master’s degree in Arts/Commerce or equivalent degree.
The candidates should also fulfil One of these additional requirements – (i) Valid GATE/CEED Score, (ii) JRF of CSIR/ UGC/ NBHM/ DBT or DST INSPIRE Fellowship, (iii) Minimum of 2 years of professional work experience, (iv) Candidates having UGC-NET Lectureship are also eligible for Teaching Assistantship in addition to other academic qualifications in Humanities & Social Sciences Department.
The candidate having an IIT B.Tech. Degree and having a minimum CGPA/CPI of 8.00 (on 10 scale) and above are exempted from requirement of valid GATE score. They are admitted to Ph.D. Program under TA/TAP/RA/RAP positions through Written Test/ Interview.
For International candidates:
The students holding foreign passports (including persons with OCI or PIO cards) are eligible to apply. For Engineering disciplines, a 4 year Bachelor’s degree is the minimum qualification. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognized University in India or abroad and at least 7 years of work experience including five years’ managerial experience. The candidate should submit a commitment letter from the organization that the candidate works for, even if the candidate is financing the program. Further, two recommendations for admission are also required to be submitted in the prescribed format.
