The National Institute of Technology Goa is the newly sanctioned ‘Institute of National Importance’ by the Government of India in the year 2009 & is fully funded by the Government of India under the Ministry of Human Resource Development.

The National Institute of Technology Goa has Modern classrooms of different sizes, Lecture halls (equipped with Multimedia Projector, LAN & Wi-Fi connectivity), Two Computing laboratories, Well equipped Laboratories & Workshops, Library, Air conditioned Conference Hall, Administrative block, Medical room, Seminar Hall, Three hostels for boys and one for girls, Bank, Medical facilities, Canteen, Sports & recreational facilities include a badminton court & grounds equipped for cricket, football, volleyball and basketball.

Eligibility
Passed 10+2 examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Technical Vocational subject. Obtained at least 45% marks (40% marks for reserved category candidates) in each of the subjects.
Admission Procedure
The admission is based on the score in the JEE (Main) Exam conducted by JEE Apex Board of the C.B.S.E. (For details visit www.jeemain.nic.in) and marks scored (normalized) in the Class 12th or 10+2 in the ratio of 60:40. The Admission is made by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) set up by the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India to manage and regulate the joint seat allocation. Duration
Four Academic years comprising of 8 Semesters.

Eligibility
For admission to M. Tech., the candidates belonging to General or Open category (GN/OC/OP)/ Other Backward Classes (OB/OBC) should have scored 6.5 CGPA on a 10-point scale or 60% marks in the Qualifying examination, the SC/ ST/ (PD/PH/PWD) candidates should have scored 6.0 CGPA on a 10-point scale or 55% marks in the Qualifying examination.
For Sponsored seats: The applicants from Academic Institutions/ Industries/ Research Organizations etc. can apply in this category. They must have a minimum two-year full time continuous service in the sponsoring organization.
For M. Tech. Computer Science & Engineering: B.E./ B. Tech. or equivalent in Computer Engg./ Computer Science/ Computer Science & Engg./ Information Engg./ Information Science/ Information Science & Engg./ Information Technology with valid GATE score in CS.
For M. Tech. Electronics & Communication Engineering (VLSI): B.E./ B. Tech. or equivalent in Computer Science & Engg./ Electrical & Electronics Engg./ Electronics & Communication Engg./ Electronics & Telecom Engg./ Engineering Physics/ Instrumentation Technology with valid GATE score in EC/ EE/ IN.
For M. Tech. Electrical & Electronics Engineering (Power Electronics and Power Systems): B.E./ B.Tech. or equivalent in Electrical & Electronics (Power System)/ Electrical & Electronics Engg./ Electrical & Power Engg./ Electrical Engg./ Electrical Engg. (Power)/ Electrical Power Engg./ Power Control & Drives with valid GATE score in EE.
Admission Procedure
The admission to M. Tech. is based on the score in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and all the Indian Institutes of Technology on behalf of the National Coordination Board – GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. The candidates with valid GATE score are required to participate in the CCMT (Centralized Counselling for M. Tech./ M. Arch./ M. Plan. Admissions) conducted by one of the National Institutes’ of Technology as authorized by the NIT Council (For details visit www.ccmt.in).
For Sponsored seats : The admission is given to these candidates on the basis of marks secured in the qualifying degree and a written and/or oral examination conducted by the concerned Department. The candidates need to submit separate application for each course (For details visit www.nitgoa.ac.in/).

Two Academic years comprising of 4 Semesters.
Ph.D. Programs:
  • The National Institute of Technology Goa offers Ph.D. in Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Economics, English.
Eligibility
For Ph.D. in Engineering & Technology: Master’s Degree in Engineering or Technology in the relevant discipline with a minimum 6.5 CGPA on a 10 point scale or 60% marks (6.0 CGPA on a 10 point scale or 55% marks for SC/ST category candidates) in both Bachelor’s and Master’s levels from recognized Technical Institute or University. The candidates should have valid GATE score.
For Ph.D. in Humanities & Sciences (Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Economics and English): Master’s degree in Sciences or Humanities OR M. Tech. in the relevant area with a minimum 6.5 CGPA on a 10 point scale or 60% marks (6.0 CGPA on a 10 point scale or 55% marks for SC/ST category candidates) in both Bachelor’s and Master’s levels from recognized Institute or University. The candidates should have valid score in GATE/ CSIR/ NBHM/ UGC-NET.
Admission Procedure
The National Institute of Technology Goa invites applications for admission in the months of April/May and October/November. The admission to Ph.D. is based on the Overall academic performance and Written Test conducted by the respective Department. Fee Structure of National Institute of Technology Goa
The Fee for different courses as fixed for the year 2015-2016 in National Institute of Technology Goa is as follows:
  • The fee for B.Tech. course is Rs. 48,061/- per student for 1st semester, Rs. 39,000/- for 2nd semester, Rs. 40,011/- for 3rd, 5th & 7th semesters and Rs. 35,000/- for 4th, 6th & 8th semesters.
  • The fee for M.Tech. course is Rs. 48,061/- per student for 1st semester, Rs. 39,000/- for 2nd semester, Rs. 40,011/- for 3rd semester and Rs. 35,000/- for 4th semester.
  • The fee for M.Tech. course (for sponsored candidates) is Rs. 50,061/- per student for 1st semester, Rs. 39,000/- for 2nd semester, Rs. 41,011/- for 3rd semester and Rs. 35,000/- for 4th semester.
  • The fee for Ph.D. course is Rs. 22,336/- for Gen/OBC category candidates & Rs. 11,836/- for SC/ST category candidates for 1st semester, Rs. 7,500/- for 2nd, 4th & 6th semesters and Rs. 12,586/- for 3rd & 5th semesters.
  • The candidates desirous of availing hostel facility have to pay Rs. 23,680/- per student per semester. The NIT Goa is not offering hostel facility to M.Tech. students (male) & Ph.D. scholars. However, accommodation is available on rent at affordable cost within 2-4 Km radius from the Institute.
