This Palace is located in the middle of Karauli City, District Karauli, Rajasthan.

History of City Palace Karauli:

This 600 years old Palace was built in the 14th Century A.D. by the royal family of Karauli (Yadhuvanshi Rajputs believed to be the descendants of Lord Krishna) and it remained in their occupation until 1938.

Architecture of City Palace Karauli:

The City Palace is a magnificent piece of architecture. It is famous for the beauty and delicacy of the artwork. It is adorned with excellent classical paintings, stone carvings, lattice work, stucco work and frescoes. It has a huge Darbaar hall where the royal family used to meet the commons for hearing and resolving their problems. The Darbaar hall with beautiful frescoes and exquisite latticework is a masterpiece of Rajasthani architecture.

Earlier the entire City was fortified by red sandstone walls with bastions for security and had six gates and eleven side entrances. The walls and gates are now in ruins.
