Location of The Pushkar Fair:

The Pushkar Fair is a week-long annual Fair organised in the month of Kartik (October/November) in the holy town of Pushkar situated at a distance of 11 Km from Ajmer City, District Ajmer, Rajasthan.

No other Fair in the World can match the grandness of The Pushkar Fair. This Fair provides an unparalleled and unforgettable experience to every visitor. This sleepy town comes alive with a riot of color and looks like a paradise. The Culture of the people of the different areas of Rajasthan is displayed at one place. The natives of the far and near Villages gather here to be away from the harsh life of the Desert and enjoy. The Hindu devotees gather here to have a dip in the holy Pushkar Lake and pay homage at the only Temple dedicated to Lord Brahma in the World. The World’s largest Camel Fair is also organised here.

During the first five days of Pushkar Fair, the Camels, Cows, Horses, sheep and goats are sold and purchased. The stalls established here offer huge varieties of ornaments and bangles, perfumes, colorful garments, the items which are used to ornament Camels. The Tattoo stalls give beauty marks to the men and women. The Camel races and other games in which Camels participate are held here. One most interesting event organised here is the beauty contest held to select the best Camel. The day of Kartik Poornima is the closing day of the Fair. On this day, the pilgrims have a bath in the sacred Pushkar Lake and pay homage at the Temple of Lord Brahma. During the full moon night, the tiny leaf boats carrying flowers and an oil lamp, are set afloat on the placid lake.

The accommodation is arranged in specially designed and self-sufficient tents in a tourist village. It is equipped with a coffee shop and a huge dining hall. The tourist Village also builds huts with extra amenities like toilets and running water.
